History
This Calathea for sale in Manila is native to the jungles of the Amazon in South America. This is where the majority live in shaded areas beneath dense vegetation or very tall trees. Calatheas or Maranta genus gets their nickname of ‘Prayer Plant’ because of a process called nyctinasty. During the day, their leaves open to receive sunlight and at night fold upwards, pointing to the sky as if they were “praying”. There is a certain joint found in the stem of Calatheas that allows them to open and close throughout the day as well. The foliage shown by these indoor plants is very dependent on their environment and care.
Care guide
Prayer plants thrive best in bright indirect sunlight where they can get optimum growth. Direct sunlight can result in burnt leaves or your Calathea might fold its leaves trying to protect itself from the harsh rays of the sun. So make sure to put them in a bright shaded area only.
This indoor plant in Manila likes its soil evenly moist, but not soggy. The recommended watering schedule for the Calathea Triostar is once to twice a week or when the top inch of the soil has dried out. While it’s fine to use regular water, tepid rain or distilled water has good benefits for this plant as well. This houseplant is also in favor of highly humid areas so it would also help to mist them in between waterings. Drooping Calathea Triostar may mean that it’s thirsty. Meanwhile, browning and yellowing in their leaves may be due to inconsistent watering. But always remember that an underwatered plant is easier to revive than an overwatered one.
Propagation
Propagating this Calathea Triostar for sale in Manila can be through the division technique while repotting. Take out the plant from its dirt and you’ll see that the roots are tangled together. Just isolated the stems cautiously with your hands and plant them in independent pots. Make sure that the sections’ roots are still intact, and that they’re cared for as you would with a normal Calathea. Rooting should take place in about a month or so!
