Description

The Heartleaf Philodendron have beautiful waxy leaves that resemble a heart. Its leaves sprout at a light bronze shade that quickly turn green as it matures. They love to climb or trail and the mature form of the plant rarely sprouts white flowers. Just like the fortune plant, it has a benefit of cleaning the air in your home.

History

The Heartleaf Philodendron is native to Brazil, West Indies and Mexico. They are usually found in humid tropical rainforests, swamps and river banks. It is part of the Aracea family which is widely known to the world and is the second largest genus in the family. This plant has the ability as a vine and to climb. Thus, its in their nature to climb tree trunks.

Care Guide

This indoor plant in Manila thrives best under medium to bright indirect sunlight. Although they can survive in low light conditions as well but with slower growth. Recommended watering schedule for this plant is once a week or when it’s leaves start to curl. This indicates that your Heartleaf is already thirsty. Make sure that the water drains at the bottom of the pot when watering to ensure it has reached the roots and to prevent root rot.

Propagation

Propagating this Philodendron for sale in Manila can be done through cuttings. Simply locate the node and cut about 1/4 inch below it using a clean pair of scissors. You can propagate your cutting in soil or water. Remove all leaves at the bottom and make sure to include at least one node that will be buried or submerged. The nodes are crucial as this is where roots will grow from. You can pot your cuttings in a well-draining, moist soil. With water propagation, use room temperature and change the water now and then. Place your cutting in bright indirect sunlight to encourage growth.
