Description

This Gotu Kola or the Centella Asiatica plant is a medicinal herb and a culinary ingredient mostly used in regions of Asia. It has circle leaves with curved edges and long thin stems.

Another name for Gotu Kola is the Asiatic Pennywort or Spade leaf which is native to the tropical climates of Indonesia, China, Japan, South Africa, and the South Pacific. It has been commonly used in Chinese traditional medicine for its many potential health properties, but are yet to be proven medically. Nevertheless, recent research has found that it does have health benefits for the following: Treating Varicose Veins, wounds and burns, and can help with cognitive function. They also have nutritional value since they contain Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Vitamin A, C and B. This herb for sale in Manila can be used in juices, teas or as your ordinary leafy vegetable.

Care guide

This herb for sale in Manila thrives best under direct sunlight outdoors. While it can also survive in partial shade, it’s best to let them be exposed in full sun where it can enjoy optimum growth and develop much sturdier stems. Watering is normally done once every day, however, it can be watered two times a day on a hot weather. Although Gotu Kola can tolerate drier conditions, they still like their soil moist. And always make sure that the water drains at the bottom of its pot during watering.

Propagation

When propagating Gotu Kola, start by cutting off stems and making sure that the node is included in your cutting. Node is the point of attachment of the leaf to the stem. Without the node, roots cannot grow out from your cuttings (this applies to every plant). Afterwards, you can plant them in moist soil and place in a bright shaded area, with daily watering.
