Description
Dracaena fragrans massangeana or most commonly known in the Philippines as Fortune Plant is one of the best air-purifying plants. History
Dracaena fragrans massangeana or Fortune Plant is native to the humid and tropical area of Africa particularly in Upper Guinea. It belongs to the Agavaceae plant family. This plant is usually found in shaded areas surrounded by vegetation and Fragrans plants. It was also proven to remove toxins from the environment when it was used by NASA’s for its clean air study. On very rare occasions, the Fortune plants may flower and release a scent that is very amusing.
Care Guide
This indoor plant in Manila thrives best in bright indirect sunlight. But it can tolerate low to medium light conditions as well, although expect slow growth. Make sure not to expose them to harsh sunlight as this might scorch its leaves. This low maintenance plant can be watered once a week. Moreover, make sure that the water drains at the bottom of the pot to ensure thorough watering.
Propagation
Propagating the Dracaena Fragrans can be done by top cuttings. First, cut below the leaf line of the plant and make sure that this includes several nodes. The cuttings can be propagated through moist soil or water, whichever your preference may be. If you chose water propagation, don’t forget to change the water when needed.
