Description
The Ficus Microcarpa or Ficus Nana, commonly known as Green Island Ficus, are small table top sized plants with round and glossy deep green leaves. Although rare, it is able to bear fruits at a later stage.

History
The Ficus Nana originated from Southern China, Indian subcontinent, through out Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands. When grown in its native regions, Ficus Nana can reach a height of over 20 ft. tall. It has Medicinal benefits such as treating wounds, headache and toothache. The bark and leaf latex are taken internally. While the steam from the boiling leaves is used for perspiration.
Care Guide
This indoor plant for sale in Manila thrives best in medium to bright indirect sunlight. It also likes its soil well-draining and moist. Recommended watering schedule is once to twice a week or when the top inch of the soil has dried out already. Make sure that excess water drains out of the pot to prevent root rot. Yellowing leaf or two at the bottom is normal for this plant as it likes to eliminate old leaves to accommodate new growth. But make sure you’re not overwatering as yellowing can also be a symptom of root rot.
Propagation
Ficus Nana can be propagated through stem cuttings. Cut at least 6 inches of stem below a node and carefully remove the lower leaves before potting them in moist soil. Keep your propagated plant in bright indirect sunlight in room temperature. Make sure to keep the soil moist as well. As soon as new growth appears, it’s a sign of a successful rooting.
